Overview
Year after year, Looking For My Sister continously makes progress towards ending domestic violence in Wayne County, Michigan. It is our pleasure to share with you the accomplishments we have made and awards that we have earned. Achievements are updated once per year as part of our Annual Report.
2008
- Certificate of Acknowledgement – New Detroit Compassion Capital Initiative – February 2008
- Executive Director received “Local Warrior�� award from Marygrove College Vagina Monologues – February 2008
- Certified Housing Counseling Agency with Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) – April 2008
- Executive Director and Program Director received Certificate of Completion – Homeownership Counselors – MSHDA – April 2008
- Awarded United Way funding for Basic Needs – June 2008
- Certification with Wayne County Business Certification Program – July 2008
- Awarded grant with Department of Justice to Encourage Arrest of Batterers with Detroit Police Department, 36th District Court, Wayne County Prosecutors Office, YWCA Interim House, LaVida & Wayne State University – September 2008
- Awarded grant from Grassroots.org for fund development – September 2008
- Awarded grant from Target Foundation for Teen Dating Violence Prevention – September 2008
- Awarded Google Grant for Marketing & Advertising – September 2008
2007
- Formal partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the city of Detroit for domestic violence survivors – January 2007
- Formed new initiative “Unity Detroit�� with Serenity Services & YWCA Interim House – August 2007
- Awarded sub-contract from Michigan Domestic Violence Prevention & Treatment Board for nonresidential lifeskills programs – October 2007
- Awarded sub-contract from Michigan Domestic Violence Prevention &Treatment Board STOP Grant – October 2007
